Clematis Question?

We have a patio that we are going to make "enclosed" by putting trelasses (sp?) all the way around %26amp; adding Clematis plants. We eventually the trelasses to be completely covered %26amp; for no spaces to be in between the plants... How far apart do we need to plant them to achieve this? Also, do we need to do anything to make sure they grow out %26amp; meet with the plant next to them?

Clematis Question?
Plant them about 2 feet apart. Prepare the planting hole well with bone meal etc. as they grow you will have to feed them through the trellis until they are established. Lovely plants.

You can also grow an Ivy at the same time which though slow will fill out gaps in trellis.
