There is, but it's not the typical large-flowered clematis. It's clematis paniculata and sometimes is called "sweet autumn" clematis. In September it's absolutely smothered with small fragrant white blooms and it will grow just about anywhere.
Please let me know if anyone knows a clematis that grows in the shade?
I've seen Clematis jackmani do well in the shade (but good light)
Reply:Many clematis can be grown successfully in hot climates. Some will rest in the heat of the summer and then bloom again in the autumn when the nights get cooler.
Reply:Not the typical ones you are thinking of (ones with large blooms). There as a type that has little white flowers, is very fragrant, and almost grows wild.
